FY is built on a simple principle: we collect the minimum data needed to run the experiment, and nothing more. Here’s exactly what that means.
What we collect
- Income bracket (not your exact income)
- Filing status
- ZIP code (optional)
- Political affiliation (optional)
- Allocation percentages across spending categories
- Submission timing
- IP hash (SHA-256, one-way — cannot be reversed to your IP address)
What we do NOT collect
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your exact income
- Device data or browser fingerprints
- Any personally identifiable information (PII)
Cookies
None. No tracking cookies. No third-party pixels. No analytics scripts that phone home. Zero.
How data is used
Aggregate statistical analysis only. We combine everyone’s allocations to show collective trends. No individual submission is ever published or shared in a way that could identify a person.
Data retention
Aggregate data is kept indefinitely. IP hashes are purged after 90 days.
